The New Video for Paramore’s Latest Single, the Only Exception Is Obviously the Most Visually Fascinating and Complicated Clip the Group Has Ever Produced

The new video for Paramore’s latest single, “The Only Exception” which premiered on the band’s internet site on Wed. is obviously the most visually fascinating and complicated clip the group has ever produced. So it is a bit bit surprising to discover the video’s director, cameraman Brandon Chesbro, counts “The Only Exception” as his first expedition into music-video direction.Watch the video here.

“I’ve been working with [Paramore] for 2 years, but this is my first promo vid for anybody,” Chesbro told MTV Reports on the telephone from Australia, where he’s now on tour with the band. “I went to film college, so I was prepared for all the cameras and gear, though it was still pretty intimidating.” Chesbro has worked closely with the band before, shooting the documentary “40 Days of Riot!,” which appeared on the group’s “The Last Riot!” DVD, and filming a doc chronicling the making of the group’s most recent attempt, brand spanking new Eyes. But the plan for him to helm a video has been in the works for a bit. “I did not wish to do ‘Ignorance’ as it was the 1st single and that was too large and important,” he said. “When I heard the idea and the tenet for ‘Brick by Uninteresting Brick,’ I claimed I had no desire to do that as it was going to be blue screen and truly scary.” Notwithstanding the complexness of the video, the entire process was surprisingly efficient. “They asked me to do ‘Exception’ in December, and I have been working on ideas and storyboards since that point but the entire production only took 4 days,” he explained. “We built the set, got all the props, shot it, edited it and wrapped it up.

Generally you take a couple of weeks to edit, but I knew precisely what Hayley and I wanted, so it is a crazy-insane-simple-perfect process.”.
