Hand Analysis: 4-Seven
Two gap suited poker hands are even more specific in their requirements of what is needed for a strong flop than one gap hands like 6 8 or no gap connectors like 3 4. In order to make the straight, which is what you would ultimately always want to do with this kind of hand versus making a flush or pairs, you need to fill in both of the cards in the middle, in this case the 5 and the 6. Without these two cards in the middle, on the board, a straight is impossible with this kind of hand.
Two gap hands are particularly nice in that it is even harder for your poker opponent to give you credit for the hand when you do make the straight, or even when you make a full house or two pair with the unlikely 4s and 7s. It is such a random seeming hand that it can be harder for someone to accept that you’ve lined up in that exact way with the board with such a gapped hand, or to not even see it at all, whereas with hands like 8 9 or the like it can be much easier to visualize. The rewards might be harder earned, but they can pay off in greater dividends for the extra risk. Remember this when you play poker.
